Foam pillows were too high so it was very uncomfortable and no alternatives available. Also the AC unit was loud and the thermostat could not set a comfortable temperature (goes from too cold to too hot in the room just by adjusting one degree). Breakfast room was really cold. Also no phone in the room to call the front desk.
Our room was roomy clean and comfortable. The location of this hotel was also nice. The front desk lady offered us a room away from the elevators @ no extra cost. They gave us a free bottle of water which was nice. It was a little over the budget since it was booked only for one night and it would be nice if the breakfast was included in the cost. Overall it was very smooth and nice stay
We love to stay here simply because of the location. The rooms were clean; however, the 2nd day of our stay they came so late to freshen up the room it was too late for us b/c we were eating dinner in there. Not a show stopper b/c the staff were friendly and the elevators were fast:-). We LOVE the location!
Very clean, efficent and nice staff, overall great experience
Elena was our receptionist- she was just amazing. Patient, friendly, warm and polite. She ensured we had a comfortable stay and gave us all the information we needed before we could even ask. The room view was stunning and everything was clean as well. Our only concern was the bathroom’s vent and coffee machine were not working properly.
The hotels design was well thought out. Very beautiful everywhere you look. The only improvement I could come up with would be to maybe carry some foliage or other decorative elements into the hotel rooms. Otherwise, very lovely stay and the breakfast was delicious!
Decent experience. A little loud at night from other guests.
Loved the six floor hangout and balcony.
Service is always excellent, front desk stuff always with amazing attitude and service, best breakfast I have ever had, room view is the best. Nothing to complain about
Reasonably priced, clean and modern hotel. Good downtown location.
Great hotel with great views. Great location. Over all very happy with this stay.
Front desk staff was stellar!! Enjoyed the lounge as well. Excellent location.
We had really been looking forward to our stay at this hotel and had deliberately booked rooms with large corner windows and a beautiful view. The windows and the view were an important reason why we chose these particular rooms and why we were willing to pay the corresponding price. To make sure everything was correct, we even called the hotel one day before our arrival and specifically asked whether we would actually receive the rooms we had selected when booking. We were assured that we would and were told that the rooms selected during the booking process would not simply be changed. Unfortunately, the reality upon arrival was very different. We were given, among others, two connecting rooms on the 9th floor. One of them, room 913, was very spacious, but it still did not have the large corner windows we had booked. The connecting room, on the other hand, was small and cramped. It only had a one small window. There was absolutely nothing of the spacious room with a beautiful view that we had expected based on our booking. What made the situation even more frustrating was the discussion at reception. We were actually told that both rooms were the same size, which was simply impossible for us to understand based on what we could clearly see. Only after a lengthy discussion were we given another room, number 1113, instead of the extremely small one. At least this solved the issue with the significant difference in room size. However, we still did not receive the large corner windows and beautiful view that we had originally booked. For a hotel in this price category, I find this extremely disappointing. If certain room categories are advertised and booked specifically with large windows and a particular type of view – and this is even confirmed by phone one day before arrival – I expect either to receive exactly what I booked or, at the very least, to be given a proper explanation and a customer-oriented solution. Unfortunately, the negative impression continued with the service. The breakfast itself was very good, but the service was surprisingly disorganized and overwhelmed, even though the restaurant was by no means full and several members of staff were working. We sometimes waited a very long time just to place an order, and orders were repeatedly forgotten or mixed up. A bagel with avocado became toast with avocado, other orders arrived differently from what had been requested, espresso was confused with regular coffee, and tea orders were also mixed up. One situation was particularly frustrating: a member of staff deliberately did not write down our order and confidently indicated that she could remember everything. Only a few minutes later, she returned several times to ask us again what we had ordered. We were a small group, and several of us had even ordered the same thing. The explanation we repeatedly heard was that “there was a lot going on.” However, that was not our impression at all. There were still empty tables and several members of staff serving a relatively small breakfast area. For a hotel catering to an international clientele, I would expect a normal breakfast service to be handled much more professionally. We also found the attitude at reception disappointing on several occasions. For example, when we returned umbrellas that we had borrowed because of the heavy rain and simply wanted to let reception know that we had brought them back, we felt as though we were disturbing the employee rather than speaking to someone working in guest services. We had a similar experience when asking about the weather. Of course, I do not expect hotel staff to be meteorologists. However, when you have many international guests who do not know the city, a friendly and helpful response would go a long way. For example, they could have mentioned that weather conditions can vary considerably even within Manhattan or recommended a reliable local weather app or website. Instead, we received a very short and rather unhelpful response. These are exactly the small things that, in my opinion, define good hotel service: helping guests who are unfamiliar with the city and making them feel welcome rather than making them feel as though they are interrupting or inconveniencing the staff. This is particularly unfortunate because the rooms themselves were nice and the breakfast was tasty. The hotel certainly has the potential to provide a very enjoyable stay. Overall, however, I was extremely disappointed. What bothered me most was that we had specifically booked rooms with large corner windows and a beautiful view, had even called the hotel the day before to confirm this, and were assured that we would receive the rooms we had selected. In the end, we received rooms with normal or very small windows and a completely different view from what we had expected and paid for. When guests pay for a specific room category and experience, they should receive what they booked. Beautiful rooms and good food, but in terms of room allocation, communication, friendliness, and overall service, there is significant room for improvement. For the price we paid, I definitely expected much more.
Beautiful
Nice hotel, good value for money. However, could have had free water in room.
Everything was great
A good solid hotel option in Downtown which was clean and comfortable, and super-friendly staff, plus smooth check-in/check-out. Slightly let down by two things: firstly, very slow service at breakfast in the lounge, and secondly, my room had no light above the full length mirror, which was positioned in the dark corridor entrance section of the room. This meant I couldn't see a thing, and the mirror might as well not have been there. Slightly frustrating when planning outfits!
Great stay with family. Location is close to WTC, rooms well equipped and great views of the city
Called the front desk to see if I could switch the room from one bed to two beds to accommodate a change of plan. The lady said no since the company only paid for a set rooms and my room doesnt is only for one bed. As I was returning from my outing, I stopped by the front desk to ask again and OFFER to pay for the difference (since I didn’t mentioned in the call) and the same person said no and went on saying how she already said no and was giving me an attitude. I dont understand if hospitality and accommodation is no longer common but I will inform my company but this experience as well so our clients wont experience the same thing.
The welcome was very warm. Thank you for that 🙂
Enjoyed our stay very much. Enjoyed the location. Hotel was very clean and quiet.
The woman at the front desk seemed very tense during check-in. When I said I didn’t need any additional information, she insisted on explaining everything anyway. She then said, “Don’t call me later asking what this or that is,” in a scolding tone. I found her response confusing and unprofessional. The rooms were not clean. The bathroom drain was clogged with hair, and there was dirt and trash under the beds.
I have stayed there about 7 times now and you still have not kept my email in system. Pillows are awful as I have said before.
Lovely property. Friendly staff. Good location. Excellent breakfast options.
Friendly and efficient staff. Lovely view from room 1710. Clean and everything was working. But it would be nice that the shower had an option for a handheld showerhead Splendid breakfeast options.
Overall good but lacks service like rooms and utilities
The room was amazing. The stuff friendly and attentive.
Had a great stay here, the shower had brilliant pressure! Loved the coffee machine had tea pods too. Views were outstanding from our room. Would have given a 10/10 if the bar service was better (definitely need more staff) and bottled water in the room. Otherwise it was a perfect stay.
The front desk manager isn't very accommodating and the breakfast is consistently poorly executed.
Everything was amazing! views, location, atmosphere. I just wish you guys had a microwave. We had a lot of leftovers and no where to heat it up.
We had the most enjoyable stay at the Cloud one.The check in staff on Friday evening were very pleasant and professional. We enjoyed the terrace, and a perfectly made cocktail on the sixth floor “what a view” Staff were wonderful.Lovely start to the evening before heading to Harry’s Steakhouse for dinner. Thank you Cloud one we look forward to staying with you in the future, and will absolutely recommend this hotel to friends and family coming to NYC.
Need water bottles in the room. Elevators are slow. Liked the soap in the rooms! Good-sized room.
The overall experience could have easily been an 8/10, but unfortunately the behavior of the female receptionist working the night shift brought it down to a 1/10. I travel extensively for work and stay in hotels all over the world, and I have honestly never experienced this level of rudeness and disrespect from someone working at a front desk. I had an issue with my room key, which can obviously happen. I politely asked for assistance, and another gentleman at the front desk was extremely kind and professional. He helped resolve the problem and even apologized to me for his colleague’s behavior. Unfortunately, the female receptionist was incredibly rude from the beginning. She spoke to me with completely inappropriate familiarity, insulted me, told me to “fuck off,” and insisted that she would not speak to me unless I said “please” and “thank you,” even though I had already asked politely for help. When I tried to explain the situation and speak with her calmly, she simply waved her hands at me as if telling me to shut up. It was honestly embarrassing to witness this kind of behavior from someone working at a hotel reception. What made it even worse was that I noticed her treating other guests in a similarly disrespectful manner. We are actually exploring hotels in this area for our company, as our teams travel to New York regularly. After this experience, I genuinely cannot understand how I could recommend this hotel to colleagues and business travelers if guests can be treated this way at the front desk. It is a real shame, because the other staff members I encountered were kind, professional and helpful. One person’s behavior, however, completely ruined what could have been a very positive experience. Management should seriously address this situation. Front desk staff are the face of a hotel, and this level of disrespect toward paying guests is simply unacceptable.
Excellent stay! The room, staff, breakfast, and 6th-floor lounge were all outstanding. I truly enjoyed my experience and look forward to returning to this property and trying other affiliate locations.
Top service all round
Wifi didn't work well in the room. Front desk was not helpful basically saying "it should work". Lighting in the main room was really low given only one overhead light. Even with the window open. Air Conditioner made annoying sound as it clicked on and off.
Rooms are spacious and clean, and staff are so helpful and friendly.
Disappointed by the hotel compared to the pics online. Pretty dirty too room too. Not worth the price at all.
I was particularly pleased about the fact that, following a message I sent within the Booking.com platform asking for a room with a nice view, I was in fact assigned a room with an excellent view over the World Trade Centre. The staff is courteous and professional; I would like in particular to mention a female member of staff who was at the reception desk in the evening of my arrival (September 13, around 9 pm) and on the morning of my check-out (September 14, shortly before noon). I recommendation I might suggest is to reduce the amount of German language that a public (by definition) international such as the one coming to your New York premises is exposed to. Everything digital, from the Wi-Fi portal to this very questionnaire starts off with everything in German, before forcing the user to manually shift into English. I do understand that the overall brand is German and that you probably have a majority of German guests for your facilities in Germany, but a location that is literally besides the World Trade Centre in New York has certainly an international audience, and English is clearly the language they are most used to. By the way, I write this being an Italian native speaker; if I were American, this expectation would be even stronger, because any interface that does not start off in English would seem to be extremely unusual, to the extent to which it becomes bizarre and weird.
Overall I love the hotel. The only downside was I was getting ready to head out for the day and was picking up my shoes when my socks were suddenly wet. The AC unit apparently had a leak and soaked the carpet. I had to repack up and move rooms before I could continue my day.
The hotel is located in a very convenient area, just a short walk from the World Trade Center, PATH, and subway stations. From the outside, the hotel looks very attractive. It is a high-rise building that fits perfectly into the Manhattan skyline. Check-in went smoothly, and the front desk associate was very friendly. I also called the hotel before my arrival with a question, and I received a timely response. In fact, one of the front desk associates followed up with a confirmation email to make sure I had everything in writing, which I really appreciated. When I made my reservation, I requested a room on a higher floor, and I was given a room on the 25th floor, so thank you for accommodating that request. Unfortunately, the room itself was extremely small. I would not recommend this type of room for two people, as there simply isn't enough space for two guests to move around comfortably. The size of the lobby was also inadequate considering the size of the hotel. It felt very cramped, with very limited space for sitting or relaxing. The room had an air-conditioning unit located underneath the window. However, during the night, the unit started making strange noises that repeatedly woke us up. The sound was particularly unpleasant because it almost sounded as if someone were trying to get into the room from outside. Although the hotel gave the impression of having been recently renovated, the renovation did not appear to be complete. Some elements of the room looked new, while others looked old and somewhat neglected. This gave us the impression that the renovation may have been done somewhat inefficiently or that cost-cutting measures had been taken during the process. My biggest issue, however, was the price. I completely understand that New York City is a busy tourist destination where events take place every day, and that hotel rates can fluctuate significantly. However, charging this amount per night for this type of room is, in my opinion, excessive. The price simply does not match the product or the level of service provided. This was extremely disappointing for us. When I booked the room at this price point, I had very different expectations for my stay. Paying $740 for two nights, without breakfast, is simply too much for what the hotel offers.
While our reason for staying was not “fun” the hotel made our stay very pleasant and comfortable considering the circumstances. The staff was very nice and the rooms were spotless. My favorite part was my view! I was able to look down at the reflecting pool, at my Daddy, all night long!
There was a person shouting in the night in the 9th floor which disturbed my sleep.
This review is for internal purposes to encourage The Cloud One New York-Downtown to improve your services, facilities, and accessibility. It is not intended for publication or sharing with any media outlets or apps. Every year, my brother Harold and I attend the 9/11 ceremony. Family members take turns as readers honoring my brother Brian's memory. Last year's stay at The Cloud One New York - Downtown helped make a difficult time better with its convenient location and simple but suitable accommodations. This year's stay was totally unacceptable and very unpleasant. The initial reservation experience with Sade for my accessible room was the only highlight of this year's stay. I pre-requested online, and confirmed on phone and in person with Sade, that we would need a late check out. I completed the early check-in online with my credit card. When we arrived, I identified myself at the front desk, reminded the clerk (who turned out to be Sade) that we had requested a late checkout, that we had requested extra towels be in the room before arrival, and that the scooter delivered by Cloud of Goods was mine, but it would need to stay in the lobby since room access with it was too difficult. Sade showed me to the room and confirmed that I could not get the scooter in and out by myself. She then left to request our luggage be brought up from the lobby. While she was out, I went to use the bathroom and discovered the toilet seat was raised and there was an unflushed turd in the toilet. The rest of the room seemed clean, but none of the pre-requested extra towels had been delivered. Sade returned with the luggage and was alarmed to hear about the toilet. She called housekeeping to request the towels be delivered. While waiting for the towels, I asked Sade to turn both the AC and the refrigerator to their coldest settings. Later that night, after returning from a Peaceful Tomorrows vigil, it was a struggle to lower the shades. Then, the window shade remote stopped working entirely. The refrigerator wasn't cool, and the AC turned itself off during the night. Getting ready early the next morning was challenging in a dark, warm room. Lighting was very limited, especially with the window shades stuck in the down position. The accessible shower was difficult to operate and required multiple towels to sop up the shower overflow. All three soap dispensers were sticky and challenging to operate. Furniture was not accessible. Closet space was ridiculously inadequate. I had to use the desk chair and my rollator in the bathroom to hold dry towels, my robe, and toiletries. In the lobby restaurant, although barely busy, staff ignored my brother's requests for assistance and a coffee refill. Later, when returning after the 9/11 ceremony, I was rushing to use my room's bathroom. I left my power scooter rental in the lobby and told the desk we should be packed and out in about 15 minutes. Our key card seemed to work in the elevator, but the light was yellow when tapped on the scanner, so I was worried. I was struggling with just my cane and really had to pee. On the trip up to our floor, two different hotel support staffers slowed our elevator ride as they joined for a floor or two with various equipment. Each time, my brother explained my urgency and our concern whether the key would work in our door. He asked each gentleman if they could help make sure we could get in our room. Each said yes, but then exited on a floor below ours. Finally at my room, the card would not let me access my hotel room. A maid came over to ask why we hadn't checked out yet. We asked her for help getting in the room, but she refused. At my brother's insistence, she finally called the front desk, but that person demanded we go back to the front desk first. I did not have that much walk left in me. My brother left me leaning at the door to our room and went downstairs. Finally, a gentleman opened the door for me. My brother packed his things and left with them to get the car from the garage recommended by the hotel. Barely out of the bathroom, I was trying to change my clothes and get my stuff organized in a stuffy room with limited lighting and only my rollator for accessible seating when non-stop knocking started. I could hear a woman's voice so I repeatedly asked her to let herself in. When she did, it was someone from the front desk asking why we hadn't left yet. After I explained that we had prearranged a late checkout, I told her I needed about 10-15 uninterrupted minutes to pack my stuff up. While she complained that we had not left on time, she walked through the room opening the closet and looking in the bathroom. I shared how unacceptable this stay had been. She confirmed that Sade had shared some of the earlier unpleasantness. She assured me that the blind remote was working until she couldn't get it to function either. Then, she wanted to "help" by having someone pack my stuff for me. I politely declined and mentioned it would help if while she was looking around she could find a bag for dirty laundry like they had in the closet last year. She admitted that they'd been out of them for a while, but offered to send someone with trash bags. I declined that offer and repeated that I needed some privacy to change my clothes, pack my belongings, and make sure I had what I needed sorted out -- I did not want someone interrupting, keeping me company, and slowing that process. To try and hurry her exit, so I could meet my brother, I reminded her that my card was on file if the hotel was not going to honor the late checkout that had been approved. If she hadn't joined me, I would have been done and out of the room before the time she finally left. After this delay, I was able to finish my packing, but my brother had already had to move the car from where he was waiting and ended up being detoured through a confusing series of roadblocks. Once in the lobby, I sat on my scooter rental because there are only low seating options - nothing accessible and waited for him to return. Noting how overheated I was, the desk clerk who had come up to my room brought me a cold bottle of water. My luggage loaded rollator and I ended up waiting in the lobby for over an hour before my brother was finally able to circle back and get a spot near the corner of Thames and Greenwich. As I started out, a gentleman at the lobby desk asked a bellman to walk with me. It was good he did because the narrow handicap access ramp was blocked by a bicycle chained in the middle of the narrow path. The bellman had to help me get my luggage-loaded rollator down the tall curb so I could walk in the street. The solemnity of our purpose for being in NYC and our ability to spend the maximum amount of our limited time with family and friends was sadly overshadowed by the unnecessary drama and unpleasantness of our brief but expensive stay at The Cloud One New York-Downtown.
Locations, rooms even though a little smaller than usual, view over ground zero site, cleanliness, staff support, and outstanding breakfast all have assured that we will be back again!
Wonderful Places for a Week in NYC With our 18 y old daughter
The staff is friendly and helpful. Room is clean. I like the size of the bathroom and shower. I have not been to the lounge area so I cannot comment.
Nice location. Convenient and easy to subway and other sites near by. I was sad to find out that my fridge was not working. I didn’t realize until I took my food out that it was not cold.
Excellent hotel in a very accessible, safe, and well serviced area of Manhattan!
Reception welcome & check in was good. However breakfast service was chaotic. We waited an hour before being seated & another half an hour to be served. Staff were doing their best but kitchen was overwhelmed. Definitely more staff needed. We wasted our time at breakfast & we’re not able to do all we wanted on our last morning in New York.
